Howdy! I’m Praxiteles (Praxa-tellies). I make sounds in Baltimore, Maryland. I play guitar pretty-okay and create eclectic music. Many of my songs are written and performed on guitar, so I sometimes do the singer-songwriter gimmick. I tinker with random audio and electronic music from time to time. Sometimes my sense of humor gets the better of me, and sometimes things just get weird.

I was born into a household of musicians. My father was a very accomplished pianist and professor. My mother was an elementary music teacher with two post-secondary degrees in education, so I was learning the fundamentals early. Bruce Haack lived with us for my first six years; he is one of my major influences.

I played a lot of different instruments during my childhood, but all of that went out the window when I picked up the guitar. It's more-or-less the same as everyone else after that: practice; flop around; play at open microphones; host open microphones; lug gear around; network; play sparsely populated venues; record stuff; eat hot chips; twerk.

My defiance of genre may turn people away. “People want to know what kind of band they're buying a ticket for.” That's absolutely valid, so I rarely play live anymore. I make what I make. Who am I to turn away an idea because it doesn't sound the same as another song? Do you know how much planning is needed to make something appear spontaneous?
